The single is very in keeping with the mood of Del Rey’s new record, boasting darker tones and reverberated guitars. “Shades of Cool” is quite an offset to the singer’s first single, “West Coast,” fiddling around with gloomier themes and using elements of classic ballads. Many have pointed out that it would serve perfectly as a James Bond movie theme, and we completely agree.
Lana Del Rey is at the top >>
Del Rey’s newest tour de force is already being applauded by music critics for its beauty, sophistication, grace and complexity. This only adds to the already uncontrollable hype surrounding Ultraviolence, which was produced by The Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach. The album is scheduled for release on June 13.
