Is Jennifer Aniston finally starring in a good movie?

We are très excited to see Jennifer Aniston try something new. The actress is starring in Life of Crime, and — for once — this movie actually looks fantastic.

We love us some Jennifer Aniston… We adore the woman, for Pete’s sake! But let’s be honest: The 45-year-old actress has not dazzled us on the silver screen in a big way since The Good Girl (although Horrible Bosses was a great one too). All that may change, though, with the release of Aniston’s newest cinematic venture, Life of Crime.

The crime comedy is based on the novel The Switch by Elmore Leonard and stars Aniston, Tim Robbins, Isla Fisher, John Hawkes and Yasiin Bey (or Mos Def). The movie follows Mickey Dawson (Aniston), who is kidnapped by criminals (Mos Def and Hawkes) in order to extort a handsome ransom from her husband (Robbins), who would actually rather spend his time with his mistress (Fisher). Shenanigans ensue.

Looks mighty good and heartily funny! As a cast member of Friends (best show ever!), Aniston gets major love points by default, but we are always excited to see the actress depart from mediocre romantic comedies to star in something smarter. Life of Crime has even already received positive reviews when it premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, so this is pretty exciting. High-fives all around!

The movie will hit theatres on Aug. 29. What do you think of the trailer? Does it look promising?
