Hear ye, hear ye, Mariah Carey is dropping a brand new album on our mortal noggins in May, and it is quite epically titled Me. I Am Mariah… The Elusive Chanteuse. We must admit, she is the only musician in the entire universe permitted to name her record with such a vain and transparently corny title.
The album was announced on Carey’s official Twitter and came complete with a video explaining the inspiration behind the mysterious title.
“On the back cover of this album is a personal treasure,” she stated. “This is my first and only self-portrait. I drew it when I was three and a half and entitled it ‘Me I am Mariah.’ Please don’t judge me for such a simplistic title. C’mon I was only three and a half, it was a creative visualization of how I saw myself with the purity of a child’s heart before it was ever broken.”
We couldn’t help but notice that the cover for the new album is not as innocent as the meaning behind it. There we can clearly see Mariah in all her curvy glory, glowing in front of a sunset — in a mesh bathing suit. Which childhood memory inspired that?
Either way, the album is available for pre-order and will hit shelves on May 27. Will you be grabbing a copy of this sultry bad boy?
