Following in her mother’s footsteps…

Meryl Streep‘s daughter, Grace Gummer, has landed a recurring character role on the second season of HBO’s The Newsroom, per The Hollywood Reporter.

The 26-year-old actress will be playing Hallie Shea, a reporter involved with the Mitt Romney campaign. If you’re unfamiliar with this Aaron Sorkin drama, it revolves around a fictional Atlantis Cable News (ACN) and anchor Will McAvoy (Jeff Daniels), with the rest of the crew.

Gummer has previously appeared in Nickelodeon teen series Gigantic and has a guest role on NBC’s Smash. So she’s making her way through the television world. Next stop — super stardom! Right?

The date of The Newsroom’s second season premiere has not been announced yet. It better be sometime soon, though.

Also, take a moment to identify the facial similarities between Grace and mama Meryl. Crazy, no? What do you think? Great breakout role, or not so much?
