Everybody’s favourite television host, Ellen DeGeneres, has received the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor, with many celebrity friends attending in support.
If there was an award for being funny, Ellen DeGeneres would definitely receive it. Wait, there is an award? And Ellen did receive it? Well, look at that…
The television host/comedienne was at the John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts yesterday to receive the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor. And you know it’s a prize for American humour when it’s spelled “humor.”
Many a star gathered round to offer their felicitations to DeGeneres, like Jason Mraz, Jane Lynch, John Krasinski and Kristin Chenoweth. Ellen is the 15th recipient of the award and the fourth woman to be honoured.
“I’m flattered. It’s fantastic. Of course I think, ‘What took so long?'” DeGeneres quipped with USA Today. “You don’t do it for awards. You do it to make people happy.”
Ellen’s other half, Portia de Rossi, was on hand to offer support. “I am very, very proud of Ellen. She’s not only the funniest person I know, but she’s such a good person.”
We may be more excited about this than Ellen herself! Great news! Congrats!
Opinions? Who should receive it next?
