Taylor Swift owns the charts

Taylor Swift owns the world, in case you did not know. The singer rocketed up to No.1 on the Billboard charts with her new breakup anthem.

Taylor Swift

It’s a tough life for Taylor Swift. When she’s not locking lips with Conor Kennedy or swimming in her diamond-studded pool full of Grammys, the singer likes to climb the music charts and break records. Like it ain’t no thang…

T.Swift has claimed the No.1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 with her new poppy hit “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” (a little wordy, no?) and has officially dethroned Mr. Flo Rida‘s “Whistle.”

Swift’s new song has sold 623,000 downloads in its first week, thus setting a new record for largest download frame by a female artist. Flo Rida’s “Right Round” currently holds the record for most downloads within a week, with 636,000 units. So close!

Fun fact: This is actually Taylor’s first No. 1 song on Billboard Hot 100! It’s hard to believe, but her closest attempt was “You Belong with Me” and “Today Was a Fairytale,” both of which soared to No. 2 on the chart. Who knew? We all assumed she’s conquered every chart in the world.

So to tally up, at 22 years old, Swift holds a No.1 on the Billboard charts, six Grammys, 10 American Music Awards and 17 Teen Choice Awards. How are we feeling about ourselves right now? It’s time to peruse yard sales for those sports trophies again.

The single “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” comes off Swift’s upcoming album Red, scheduled to drop on Oct. 22 — just in case you’d like to pre-order a copy.
