Nicki Minaj’s diva attitude upsets Scotland crowd

We understand that musicians will have diva needs, but sometimes it can go a little too far, which is exactly what happened with Nicki Minaj. The rapper has upset a few people with her demands, which has garnered her the title of major diva.

It seems the “Pink Friday” artist ruffled a few feathers while performing last weekend at the T in The Park festival in Scotland after her diva demands took the set crew by surprise. The Sun UK reports that Nicki, who was one of many musicians at the music festival, had a problem with everything from punctuality to the grass.

“Nicki went off on one about the grass around her area, saying it was far too long for her to walk on,” says a source to The Sun UK. “She threw a complete strop, pouting and pointing and asking someone to get a lawn mower to sort it out.”

Hmm… That does sound sort of diva-ish. But maybe Nicki was just concerned about the sharp blades of grass poking at her feet. Or maybe she’s just really passionate about lawn care. That could be it, right? Well, whether or not Nicki meant to deliberately turn up the knob on her diva radar, she definitely didn’t put the crowd at ease after she came on stage 50 minutes late.

50 minutes late? OK, not even Mariah Carey is so much of a diva — and she was known as one of the original music divas.

But the entertainment website claims there was an odd spin-around and karmic effect for Nicki’s behaviour, with the entire crowd booing her performance and English folk singer Frank Turner taking to Twitter to comment on her mega-attitude.

“To clarify: Nicky Minaj has been being a total selfish s***head to all the hardworking crew backstage at T. Pathetic. F*** off,” tweeted Frank. “You can (I suppose) be a dick to your own crew, you’re paying them. But everyone else? And not to mention the people out front. Ugh.”

Of course this caused a major firestorm of backlash from Nicki’s fans, who hit back at the “England Keep My Bones” artist, tweeting everything from how much they hate him to people criticizing him for his comments.

“This is endless, and endlessly funny. Was going to RT some responses but there are too many classics. Have a look yourself,” tweeted Frank in response to the backlash.

Didn’t he learn anything from the whole Chrissy Teigen-Chris Brown Twitter drama? Rule number one, Frank: Never underestimate the backing of a popular musician — even if she is a diva.
