No more high school musicals for Zac Efron. The young Hollywood actor is moving on to a different level of acting, feeling more comfortable in his own skin and acting in more mature movie roles.
Zac Efron isn’t afraid anymore to show a little skin.
The High School Musical star may have won our hearts playing the athletic, sweet boy next door in the Disney trilogy, but now he has graduated to doing a lot of revealing scenes in his new movie, The Paperboy, which debuted at the Cannes Film Festival.
“I don’t think I was supposed to feel comfortable. It’s like life,” says Zac about his role in the movie, according to People. “This character is supposed to be learning the ways of the world, and that can be very uncomfortable. But it’s also exciting.”
Yes, it is definitely exciting, Zac, getting a chance to see your very appealing body in all its glory.
The 24-year-old actor, whose co-star Macy Gray says was “in his underwear half the time,” plays alongside Nicole Kidman and Matthew McConaughey in the 1969-inspired movie about a journalist investigating a murder case, and he says roles like these have helped him evolve as an actor.
“It’s incredibly fulfilling. It’s a dream. Hopefully I can keep doing things like this,” says Zac.
But this isn’t the first movie in which the handsome young Hollywood heartthrob has acted out a sensual scene. In the Nicholas Sparks novel-inspired film The Lucky One, Zac performed love scenes with his co-star Taylor Schilling and said that although he was nervous, he eventually got comfortable with acting out the steamy scenes.
“Everyone builds those scenes up… There is sort of a fear inherent in everyone else, so me and Taylor weren’t afraid at all.”
