Aw, Lloyd Dobler — erm — John Cusack was the lucky recipient of a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame yesterday. The ceremony was attended by his sister, Joan Cusack, as well as friends Jack Black and Billy Bob Thornton.
Even though receiving a star ain’t that big a deal anymore (Snooki should get hers any day now), it was a great reminder of John Cusack’s wondrous film career.
“To the best of my knowledge, I’ve tried to screw my career up as much as I possibly could,” the actor stated at the ceremony. “But even with all my best efforts to screw it up, I managed to have lasting friendships and some of the best friends I’ve ever met in the business.”
Memoriiies. Who didn’t make cheesy speeches to impress a girl a la Walter Gibson in The Sure Thing or hold the boom box over the head like in Say Anything?
They don’t make movies like that anymore, that’s for sure. Oh, to be young and frivolous again!
But there ye have it. Godspeed!
