Marky Mark draws criticism from a non-funky bunch after his statement on 9/11 becomes public.
Mark Wahlberg has apologized for saying that if he had been on American Airlines Flight 11 on September 11, 2001, it would not have crashed.
In a statement made to Men’s Journal, the actor asserted, “If I was on that plane with my kids, it wouldn’t have went down like it did. There would have been a lot of blood in that first-class cabin and then me saying, ‘OK, we’re going to land somewhere safely, don’t worry.'”
The comment drew criticism for its implication that the passengers aboard the flight were not as brave or proactive as Wahlberg claimed he would have been. The Contraband star issued an apology to TMZ on Wednesday, saying, “To speculate about such a situation is ridiculous to begin with,” and continuing, “I deeply apologize to the families of the victims that my answer came off as insensitive. It was certainly not my intention.”
Throwing caution to the wind, the actor reaffirms his bad-boy image. They say any publicity is good publicity, but maybe there’s a better use for his celebrity influence.
