Jennifer Lawrence is on top of the world right now.
Not only did Guinness World Records name her the highest grossing action heroine of all time for her starring role as Katniss Everdeen in the Hunger Games series, but she’s also the winner of an Oscar and two Golden Globes.
But, apparently, Lawrence is not just on top of the world. She’s also saving it, according to Donald Sutherland, that is.
“When I worked with her, I realized the child was a genius,” Sutherland told E! News at the Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 1 premiere. “She’s the right person at the right time in the sense of Joan of Arc or Jesus Christ, any genius, in that sense.”
Though Sutherland is gushing about Lawrence, her costar and on-screen love interest, Liam Hemsworth, isn’t so charmed. In fact, during his appearance on The Tonight Show, he told Jimmy Fallon that kissing Lawrence was gross!
“When you look at it on the outside, it looks like a great picture,” Hemsworth said of his kissing scenes. “She’s one of my best friends. I love her. But if we had a kissing scene, she would make a point of eating garlic or tuna fish or something that was disgusting.”
Luckily, Lawrence will always know Sutherland’s got her back.
“She has the ability as an actor to tell the truth out of the material and that truth is immediately recognizable with everybody because it hits you in your heart, your solar plexus and your mind,’ Sutherland also said during the interview with E! News. “And she has the genius of person to be not affected by all of this. She’s just a real girl.”
All hail Lawrence for bringing sci-fi heroines to the current generation.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 1 hits theaters Nov. 21. Don’t worry, you won’t have to kneel before the screen prior to watching. Not yet, at least.
