Kendrick Lamar better brace himself: He’s so going to be the topic of one of Taylor Swift’s future love songs.
Though Swifty claims she’s not looking for love and is happy to be single right now, it certainly seems like she is all about Lamar. Her career is at an all-time high as her new album, 1989, is setting records and selling over a million copies, and she turned to the rapper to help her celebrate her successes.
Swift posted an adorable video of herself on Instagram, getting down to Lamar’s hit, “Backseat Freestyle,” as she’s strapped in to her own front seat at the wheel. “Industry experts predicted that 1989 would sell 650k the first week,” she wrote in the caption. “You went and bought 1.287 million albums. AND IT’S GOT ME LIKE:”
She also posted the most epic photo ever of her 12-year-old self in 2002 with cornrows. The caption reads,”The last time an album sold as many copies as 1989 did first week, it was 2002, I was 12, and going through my ‘braids phase.’ #nofilternecessary,” but it should say, “You’re welcome, world.”
This is not the first time Swift has fangirled over Lamar. She caught some screen time at the 2014 Grammys, dancing her little heart out, as Lamar was performing on stage and she gushed about the rapper to Rolling Stone magazine earlier this year, as well, revealing that she listens to “Backseat Freestyle” when she wants to go from feeling victimized to feeling awesome.”
Lamar returned the love in September, when he told Entertainment Tonight, “I appreciate Taylor Swift for not only supporting my music, but just the hip-hop culture.”
