Great news, Skinny Girl fans: Bethenny Frankel is returning to The Real Housewives of New York City! Seem awkward since Frankel isn’t even technically a housewife anymore? She gets the irony.
Frankel made the official announcement of her return to RHONY earlier this morning when she jokingly tweeted about how she’s never on Housewives when she’s actually a housewife.
How come I'm never a housewife when I'm a housewife? Breaking news: http://t.co/Q7Oq4z4ob1

The tweet links out to Frankel’s personal blog. In the statement, she gave fans her reasoning behind the return. Frankel admitted that after her talk show ended, she wasn’t sure she ever wanted to return to television. But that, ultimately, she liked the lifestyle that comes with having those Bravo cameras follow her around and that she thought it was a good way to keep in contact with her fans and show them what she’s up to. Part of her statement has us slightly concerned for Frankel’s current situation, though.
“When I joined The Real Housewives (originally named Manhattan Moms), I was financially, personally, and professionally insecure,” Frankel reminded fans. “Embarking on that adventure with you and with Bravo changed my life forever.”
Bravo has definitely bettered the situation for Frankel in the past. However, we have our concerns on this return. If she turned to reality television when she was in a time of stress before, is that why she’s returning? Frankel and her ex-husband, Jason Hoppy, went through a fairly rough divorce and custody battle. Has that taken its toll on her newfound confidence or her bank account? Professionally, what’s up with the Skinny Girl product line? We see it’s still on the shelves, but is it selling as well as it used to now that she’s off television? We’re also sure the talk show flop did a number on her self-esteem. Is she hoping that rejoining RHONY will help boost her ego? If so, that seems like a huge mistake. Those girls are so rough on each other.
We’re so excited for her return, but are there worrisome reasons under the surface? Give Bravo a hot second and we’re sure they’ll reveal the answer.
