Joshua Jackson and 5 more celebs with excuses for not marrying their gals

Men in Hollywood keep making open declarations of love toward their significant others and then add in that big “but.” They are happy to publicly be affectionate with their girlfriends, but they are never going to get married.

Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux “already feel married”

Joshua Jackson recently went public with his reasoning for not marrying his gorgeous girlfriend of eight years, Diane Kruger. “I can tell you why weren’t not getting married: We’re not religious. I don’t feel any more or less committed to Diane for not having stood in front of a priest and had a giant party,” Jackson said in an interview with Glamour magazine. “We’re both children of divorce, so it’s hard for me to take marriage at face value as the thing that you’ve grown up and are committed to another person. But it may change at some point. We may get married.”

We’re just over here wondering what could happen to make him suddenly change his tune. An ultimatum? A near-death experience that leads the couple to find religion? We just think that Jackson should change his mind before it’s too late and he’s singing Beyoncé’s “Single Ladies” on repeat while eating a tub of ice cream on the couch. Because as Queen Bey says: “If you liked it then you should have put a ring on it.”

Here are five other guys who have come up with elaborate excuses for not marrying their longtime loves.

1. Jon Hamm

Hamm, who has been dating girlfriend Jennifer Westfeldt for more than 17 years, says he won’t get hitched to his gal because, well, it’s not in his biology. “I don’t have the marriage chip,” Hamm told Parade magazine in 2010. “Jen is the love of my life, and we’ve already been together four times longer than my parents were married.”

2. Enrique Iglesias

Iglesias and his partner, tennis pro Anna Kournikova, have been together since 2001, but he admits that they will never tie the knot. Like both Hamm and Jackson, he cites his parents as the reason. “I’ve never really thought that marriage would make a difference,” Iglesias said in a 2012 interview. “Maybe it’s because I come from divorced parents, but I don’t think you love someone more because of a piece of paper.”

3. Justin Theroux

OK, so he put a ring on it and this one is a bit of hearsay, but Theroux allegedly got cold feet about marrying the fabulous Jennifer Aniston. According to Hollywood Life, Aniston asked Theroux to expedite their wedding because of a pregnancy scare, but Theroux supposedly balked and needed “time to think.”

4. Jason Mraz

Like Theroux, Mraz also put a ring on the finger of his longtime girlfriend, songstress Tristan Prettyman. After proposing, he vowed not to marry until gay marriage was legal, and he put the marriage on hold. Shortly after, he called off the engagement entirely, saying that he needed to put his art first. Prettyman moved on and wrote an album about the experience.

5. George Clooney

When Clooney was with Stacy Keibler, the couple seemed very happy in love and even lived together. Still, Clooney made it very clear that the two would never enjoy wedded bliss because, well, Clooney was married before and didn’t excel at being a husband. “I haven’t had aspirations in that way, ever,” he said to Esquire last year. “I was married in 1989. I wasn’t very good at it.” The two broke up last summer and are both now married to someone else.
