Cannon gave us reason to think there just might be when he stood up for Carey against critics this week.
Carey is on tour and she recently faced reports that she had “vocal issues” during a concert in Japan. Cannon was quick to jump to his estranged wife’s defense.
“You know you might have an off night here and there, but she’s one of the greatest performers and entertainers of all time,” he said, according to the Daily Mail. “She’s not worried, we’re not worried, just going to keep pushing.”
And, apparently, there’s been little distance between the two. Cannon added, “I just wish her nothing but the best, we’re in contact constantly.”
The couple has two kids, 6-year-old twins, Monroe and Moroccan. They’re on tour with their mom, Cannon said, but, despite the split, he said they’re doing well.
“They’re doing amazing,” he told Extra. “They’re on the road right now with Mommy on tour so they’re having a good time. It’s all love, man.”
The one thing that maybe isn’t indicative of love? Cannon recently had his tattoo of Carey’s face covered up. He was caught shirtless by paparazzi, who revealed the ink covering up the image of his wife that used to adorn his back.
“I didn’t know they were there — that’s how sneaky paparazzi are,” Cannon said. “I had just gotten it done. It was painful and I couldn’t have anything touching me. It hurt a lot and I’m still not finished. I’m still probably like six more sessions away.”
Cannon has also been seen out with his pal, Randy Jackson, and an unidentified blond-haired woman, according to the Daily Mail. The site reports that a source said Jackson took off early, but Cannon stayed and he and the woman “kept chatting and laughing. Nick had a big smile on his face.”
As for his own thoughts on the split with Carey, Cannon has this to say: “I’m just taking everything one day at a time and just being the best person that I can possibly be at the end of the day.”
