The studio released this summary of the plot: “Picking up the story three years after Mike bowed out of the stripper life at the top of his game Magic Mike XXL finds the remaining Kings of Tampa likewise ready to throw in the towel. But they want to do it their way: burning down the house in one last blow-out performance in Myrtle Beach, and with legendary headliner Magic Mike (Tatum) sharing the spotlight with them. On the road to their final show, with whistle stops in Jacksonville and Savannah to renew old acquaintances and make new friends, Mike and the guys learn some new moves and shake off the past in surprising ways.”
A final show? Say it ain’t so!
The movie is currently filming and the cast has been spotted looking buff and dapper on the set in Savannah in the past few weeks.
Gabriel Iglesias, who plays Tobias in the films, even shared a cast selfie on Twitter this week.

Tatum and Manganiello are, of course, gracing the screen again with their toned bodies. Matt Bomer (shirtless in the above pic, thank you very much) is also returning for the sequel, as are Kevin Nash and Adam Rodriguez. E! News has also confirmed some new A-list additions to the cast for the sequel, including Andie MacDowell, Elizabeth Banks and Amber Heard.
Matthew McConaughey, unfortunately, is hanging up his G-string and not returning for the sequel.
Last month, Tatum told Ellen DeGeneres he really wanted Guardians of the Galaxy actor, Chris Pratt, to appear in Magic Mike XXL. Pratt and Tatum met on the set of their film, 10 Years, and Pratt has recently gotten in amazing shape for his superhero role in the Marvel franchise. But, unfortunately, due to scheduling conflicts, Pratt was unable to make an appearance.
Tatum, on the other hand, has gone from what he described as “fappy” (aka fat and happy) to toned and lean for his upcoming leading role in the stripper flick.
Magic Mike XXL is scheduled to be released July 2015.
