Phil Spector's jail time is transforming him into Gollum
Convicted murderer Phil Spector looks like he's channeling Gollum in two shocking newly released jail photos.
Spector, who was sentenced in 2009 for the second-degree murder of actress Lana Clarkson in 2003, is currently serving 19 years to life in a California prison and has gone through a significant transformation while sitting in the slammer.
The former record producer shows how jail can age a person, as he slowly seems to be turning into a Gollum look-alike. Spector's photos make him appear very similar to the unfortunate Lord of the Rings creature, especially when he sports that sinister smile.

The legendary music mogul was known for wearing wigs throughout his iconic career, but in jail, any kind of hairpiece is not allowed, so his looks have dramatically changed. Plus, as it's widely known, jail can really have negative effects on one's appearance and Spector is a fine example of that theory.

Officials have not revealed details on why the photos were released, nor on Spector's health. One of the pictures was taken at the California Health Care Facility in Stockton on Oct. 28, 2013, where E! News reports inmates who "have the most severe and long-term needs" get medical care and mental health treatment.
The other photo is from July 24, 2013, and was taken at the California Substance Abuse Treatment Facility and State Prison. While not confirmed, these photos could indicate Spector may be receiving some kind of medical or mental attention while incarcerated.
In the photos, the troubled music legend looks super-skinny, gaunt and much balder then he did when he first entered jail five years ago. However, the shot where he's seen eerily smiling could easily land him a position as Gollum's face and body double.
