Don’t know what a lip flip is? It’s time to learn.
Jimmy Fallon did his first lip flip with Billy Crystal — through some kind of computer or camera magic, the then-Late Night host swapped lips with Crystal, who was his guest on the show. The gag went over so well, it was duplicated with other celebs, like Whoopi Goldberg and Tina Fey, but the original, which involved a laugh-out-loud funny attempt to joke about Justin Bieber in Dutch, was hard to beat. Until now, that is.
Modern Family actress, Sofia Vergara, loved the original lip flip so much, she requested one of her own when she came on The Tonight Show Tuesday night.
“I know you are interviewing me here and you do a very good job sometimes,” the actress quipped, before adding, “I would also like to interview myself.”
The lip flip gave Fallon a chance to try out his best Vergara-inspired Spanish accent, complete with a goofy laugh and an “aye ye ye.”
And Vergara fired right back as Fallon, saying he’d been practicing his Spanish skills himself before professing his undying love for Justin Timberlake. How the two stars manage to keep a straight face during this is anyone’s guess.
But the best part of the clip, by far, comes just before the end. Fallon and Vergara end the bit by teaming up to do a hilarious duet rendition of Gloria Estefan’s “Conga.” It’s an arrangement that’ll have you shaking your booty and ready to conga right along with them, for sure.
It’s, as they say in Spanish (at least, according to Fallon’s impression of Vergara), muy funny.
