Kanye West can add a new title to his name: professor. The rapper has taken up a new position teaching at the Los Angeles Trade Technical College — but it wasn’t exactly his idea.

West was sentenced to 250 hours of community service from an attack on a paparazzo back in 2013. West’s community service sentence includes a teaching stint at the college, according to Entertainment Tonight.
West was accused of hitting the photographer at LAX in July 2013 and pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor count of battery. He had also been originally charged with grand theft, because of his attempt to take the camera.
The photographer involved also sued West and released a statement soon after the incident, saying, “When Kanye West attacked me, I was in complete shock. All I had done was ask him a question. I was terrified when Kanye started to come at me. I backed up because I felt from the look in his eyes that he was going to attack me.”
Prosecutors decided not to charge West with a felony, because the photographer only received minor injuries. But the rapper could have faced up to six months in prison.

Although West is definitely teaching at the school, no one seems to know what he is actually teaching — although the school is known for fashion design and technology. West does have his own line of clothing, but it’s not clear if that is what he is teaching.
Either way, it’s bringing prestige to the school and putting his talents to use during his sentence.
