Dax Shepard stopped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show and showed off some new ink while he was there.

The tattoo is on Shepard's ring finger in place of a traditional wedding band. Shepard, of course, is married to actress Kristen Bell, and the tattoo is of a bell in her honor.

Not only did Shepard come to the show with a new tattoo, he also came with a lot of great humor.

"I don't like wearing jewelry, but I felt obliged to warn all the men that I'm taken," Shepard joked with DeGeneres. "So, I thought a tattoo would be fitting. And her last name conveniently is an object I could tattoo. And there are little letters in there."

The letters K, L, and D are inscribed inside the bell. K is for his wife Kristen Bell, L is for their daughter Lincoln and D is for either Dax or the name the couple has already picked out for their new baby.

Shepard and Bell tied the knot in 2013 and are currently expecting their second child together.

"We're building a circus," Shepard said of his wife's pregnancy. "We want to eventually get in a van and tour the country."

DeGeneres thinks Shepard and Bell are planning on copying Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, who have six children now.

"The current one is a little girl," Shepard said when DeGeneres asked to confirm. "But we're open if she wants to change that," Shepard was quick to add.

Shepard said they are making the baby's sex a surprise for America, so it sounds like he and Bell know whether the baby is a boy or a girl, but the funnyman wouldn't confirm. When he and DeGeneres began referring to the child as "she," Shepard cut in, "Now we're really using the female pronoun and now it's getting really dicey." Did he accidentally confirm the sex of his baby or was it all in good fun?
