Jeff Goldblum belts out the Jurassic Park theme song — with lyrics (VIDEO)

If you weren’t previously sure if Jeff Goldblum still had heart for the dinosaur of a film (pun intended) he starred in over 20 years ago, you can be sure now. In a nerdy-meets-awesome display of nostalgia this week, Mr. Goldblum sang a lyric-infused rendition of the Jurassic Park theme song on Late Night with Seth Meyers.

Quintessential nerdy actor Jeff Goldblum stopped by Late Night with Seth Meyers this week to say hello. Well, to say hello and to grace the American public with his own personal version of the theme song to a film close to his heart, Jurassic Park. Yes, that’s right, Jurassic Park was long ago but certainly not forgotten, particularly not by one of its main stars.

During the late-night drop-by, the pair got to talking about the actor’s film roster and in particular, about the now-classic dinosaur drama Jurassic Park. After bantering a bit about the movie as a whole, they got on to a much more pressing matter: the theme song. Anyone who has seen the film (which, as Mr. Goldblum reminded us, should be everyone) should instantly recognize the eerie-meets-intriguing wordless tune. Wordless, that is, until now.

The actor went on to share with Meyers that he had taken it upon himself to learn fan-penned lyrics to the song. “Somebody else wrote this. I know not whom, but they wrote something to the tune, which I’ll bet you know because people mostly see that 200 times,” he told Meyers. Indeed, it sounds like somebody else sure did. He then promptly grabbed a mic, cleared his throat and proceeded to belt out the song in all its newly lyric-filled glory. He urged the audience to sing along to the, er, catchy-ish tune — however, the participation proved minimal at best.

Aw, Jeff, don’t feel bad — we liked your dinosaur-ific ballad and we commend you for your still-going-strong Jurassic spirit.
