Apple is definitely taking advantage of the power of celebrity to introduce the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus to users.
First, U2 played a concert during the product-unveiling event in Cupertino, California, today and, now, Justin Timberlake and his pal, Jimmy Fallon, are making appearances in a commercial for the upcoming phone.
Though neither Fallon nor Timberlake can be seen in the commercial, they make up for it as they both a cappella hum the theme song from 2001: A Space Odyssey as their hands introduce the iPhone 6 and the larger iPhone 6 Plus.
The harmony is perfectly hilarious. And we definitely pushed repeat once the ad was over. How often does that happen when you ever watch a commercial? Which means this one is definitely worth the play.
The words “Bigger than bigger” close out the commercial as Fallon and Timberlake belt out the final long note.
This ad signals some much-needed good publicity for Timberlake, who has been in the news recently for supposedly cheating on his wife, Jessica Biel, with a female backup dancer while he’s been on tour. Though the claims are unconfirmed, that hasn’t stopped a host of suspicious articles recently.
Aside from the option of two different size screens, the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus will offer curved edges, and the bigger screens allow for bigger batteries, which will up the video watching to 11 hours and 14 hours, respectively, compared with the 10 hours on the iPhone 5S. Additionally, the phone will feature an eight megapixel camera with a new sensor that will help the camera focus faster.
The new iOS 8 software update will be available Sept. 17 to customers who have an iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPhone 5C or iPhone 5S.
The new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus phones will be available Sept. 19 in the United States. Pre-orders begin this Friday.
