Predictably titled Four, 1D says that they’ve worked extremely hard writing and recording their fourth studio album during their latest trek on the road. To get fans amped for the project, which drops on Nov. 17, the band unveiled a brand-new track from the album called “Fireproof.” It was cowritten by bandmates Payne and Tomlinson, with additional songwriting credits by Julian Bunetta, John Ryan and Jamie Scott. Fans can head over to their official website to download the track for free for the next 24 hours and pre-order the album before it hits stores.

“Fireproof” continues the band’s slow but steady musical evolution. Over an easy, breezy melody and some killer background harmonizing, the guys of 1D stress how much they stand apart from the rest of the guys in the sea. “Cause nobody knows you baby the way I do/ And nobody loves you baby the way I do,” they croon atop a smooth guitar backing. While “Fireproof” doesn’t tread new water for the band and lacks the big hook from their previous singles, it’s pretty friendly to the ears and likely to captivate the same fans that enjoyed “Story of My Life.”

“We hope you won’t mind us sharing a track with you right now for free on our website. You will also be able to find images from the new album. We hope you like our new music,” the bandmates said in a video announcement.
