Joan Rivers' daughter Melissa gives an update on her condition
The world was shocked to hear the news that comedian Joan Rivers had been rushed to the hospital after she stopped breathing during a vocal cord surgery on Thursday.
It was reported earlier that the Fashion Police star had been hospitalized in serious condition, and now her daughter Melissa Rivers has released an update on her mom's condition.
Melissa released a statement expressing her gratitude and informing fans of her mother's current condition.
"I want to thank everyone for the overwhelming love and support for my mother," the statement read, according to E! News. "She is resting comfortably and is with our family. We ask that you continue to keep her in your thoughts and prayers."
Melissa, Joan's only child, flew to New York City with her son Cooper on Thursday to be close to her mother during this difficult time.
As previously reported, Joan Rivers was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan after she stopped breathing during a minor endoscopic procedure on her throat. However, the current condition of the star is unknown as reports suggested she was in stable condition midday yesterday, but according to Us Weekly, a source told them that Joan had been placed in a medically induced coma.
The comedian's health scare comes as quite a shock to many fans because she is believed to have been in perfect health earlier this week while promoting her new book Diary of a Mad Diva at New York's Time & Life Building.
A source revealed to E! News that Joan was full of energy at the event. "She was so lively and sweet," the source told the outlet.
