On Tuesday, singer Carey hit the town for lunch at Da Mikele in Tribeca with their 3-year-old twins, Moroccan and Monroe, and without her wedding band. Onlookers told People that Carey looked relaxed and content as she noshed on a salad and gelato with the kids.
“They seemed happy and like they were having a good time,” the source said.
Meanwhile, Cannon hosted Tuesday night’s America’s Got Talent without his ring on. As of last week, before news of the famous couple’s split went public, he was still wearing it on the show and in public.
People reports that a source close to the family said their marriage has “been bad for a while” and added that Cannon “has been staying in hotels.”
Other insiders have told the media that Carey is focusing on her kids amidst the split and her Instagram backs that story up. On Wednesday, she posted an adorable shot of herself with daughter Monroe, captioned “#MyHeart.”
A split has been rumored for Cannon and Carey since late 2013, but both fiercely denied the rumors until they surfaced again this month. Friends said the two were living in separate homes after several of their shared properties went up for sale. Cannon confirmed their separation after six years of marriage last week, a move that left Carey devastated — she revealed they had been working on a joint statement about the end of their marriage before Cannon spilled the beans.
Carey has been tight-lipped about the split, but her rep has said her main concern is her kids — and it appears to be true.
Our thoughts are with Carey, Cannon and the kids during this difficult time.
