Sons of Guns canceled after child rape charges
The Discovery Channel took some swift action on Wednesday by canceling their reality show Sons of Guns in light of the charges against cast member Will Hayden. The reality star was originally arrested two weeks ago in Louisiana for child molestation.
The charges against him escalated on Tuesday with the charge of child rape being added to the previous arrest. Hayden allegedly assaulted the 12-year-old daughter he had with his ex-girlfriend.
After his initial arrest, the Discovery star blamed his ex-girlfriend for making up the charges in retaliation for the end of their relationship. Hayden's daughter Stephanie from another relationship told TMZ, "There was never any impropriety in our home. He was and is a good father."
However, the gossip site obtained the court documents, which chronicled the horrific details of the child being raped in March 2013 when she was just 11 years old. The victim was allegedly assaulted almost daily both orally and vaginally. She did not report the crime out of fear for her life after allegedly being threatened by Hayden.
The documents revealed that Hayden reportedly told his daughter, "Don't tell them nothing, because I'm all you got."
The latest allegations forced the cable channel to not only halt production on the reality show, but also cancel the entire series.
A spokesperson told TMZ, "Given the serious and horrific nature of the charges against Will Hayden, we have decided to halt further production of Sons of Guns and cancel the series."
The show has already been removed from their website. The series ran for five seasons on the network and featured his gun store, Red Jacket Firearms.
Hayden is currently in custody after the second arrest.
