Primetime Emmys: Hayden Panettiere announces sex of her baby on the red carpet
The Emmys are (apparently) a time for big news — even if it's an accident. Hayden Panettiere, who only officially confirmed her pregnancy last week during her ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, announced today that she is having a baby girl!
Panettiere made the big announcement to Giuliana Rancic of E! News while on the 2014 Emmy Awards red carpet. The actress is engaged to boxer, Wladimir Klitschko.
"I can't wait for her to come out, this little one," Panettiere said, to which Rancic replied, "It's a girl?"
"I think I just said that, didn't I?" Panettiere replied. "Yes, it's a little girl."
The actress, who can no longer hide her baby bump, looked gorgeous on the red carpet in a Lorena Sarbu dress. She said her current focus in life is getting ready for her little girl's arrival.
"I like to shop, girl!" she said. "I want to go shopping for my girl. I want to paint the room appropriately."
Panettiere has been outspoken about the current crisis in Ukraine. Klitschko is Ukrainian and his brother, Vitali, is a member of the Ukrainian parliament. He has been an important force behind the reform movement in the country.
Klitschko's heritage is important to the couple, including how they plan to name their daughter. She explained that, "We have to make sure that it is American and Ukrainian all at the same time. That's a little rough — we're still working on it."
