Show creator, Ryan Murphy, announced Bomer is joining the show at EW’s Emmy party. According to the outlet, Murphy said he’s excited to work with the “amazing” actor once again. Bomer is nominated for his performance in the TV movie, The Normal Heart, which was directed by Murphy. The White Collar actor also made a guest appearance on Murphy’s show, Glee, as Blaine’s (Darren Criss) older brother in Season 3.
Murphy said Bomer’s role is “very warped,” though he didn’t go into detail about Bomer’s character. The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Bomer will only appear in one episode.
Season 4 of the FX hit will center around the last traveling circus in America in 1952. The story will be set in Jupiter, Florida, with “the strange emergence of a dark entity that savagely threatens the lives of townsfolk and freaks alike,” according to the official synopsis.
Bomer will join returning cast members Emma Roberts, Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Evan Peters, Jessica Lange, Angela Bassett and Gabourey Sidibe. It was also recently announced that Jyoti Amge, the smallest woman in the world, will be joining the cast this season. The Guinness Book of Records states that the 20-year-old stands a little over 2 feet tall. Her character, like Bomer’s, is currently unknown.
Shortly after word of Bomer’s addition to the cast, FX released a teaser trailer for the new season, which premieres Wednesday, Oct. 8, just in time for your Halloween viewing pleasure.
The 12-second clip, aptly titled, “Lick,” shows a split tongue licking a lollypop.
