Adrianne Palicki gets recruited for Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is hitting it out of the park when it comes to casting Season 2.
We've got more than Lucy Lawless to look forward to when the show returns in a month. Hitfix reported today that Adrianne Palicki has officially signed on to play Bobbi Morse, otherwise known as Mockingbird to those of us who are comic book geeks.
Watch your back, Black Widow! In the back pages of Marvel history, Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye has quite the relationship with Bobbi. At one point, they even ended up married for a while. We'll have to wait and see if Mockingbird's appearance on the show means a looming crossover with the blockbuster Avengers series. Lady Sif (Jaimie Alexander) made an appearance straight from Thor's home world of Asgard last season, so we see no reason why Clint Barton can't show up, especially after the events of Captain America: The Winter Soldier left S.H.I.E.L.D. in tatters.
Either way, it could spell trouble for those of us rooting for the tiny silver arrow necklace Scarlett Johansson wore as Natasha Romanoff to mean a little something more for the onscreen duo.
As far as Palicki goes, however, we're thrilled to see her back on one of our favorite shows. Her turn as Tyra Collette on Friday Night Lights was one of the brightest spots in a show that was, let's face it, pretty packed with standout actors. We were pretty excited when she was cast in David E. Kelley's Wonder Woman pilot back in 2011, but the show never made it off the ground. She's definitely got the chops to play a superhero, though — watch 10 minutes of her tough-talking, but still vulnerable, Tyra and her range and capability for fierceness is unmissable.
Palicki has only committed to an appearance in the fifth episode this season, but we'll keep our fingers crossed for more.
