Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson says he’s now very grateful his family is OK after being hit by a drunk driver. However, initially he wanted to cause harm to the person who hit his mother and cousin.
After a head-on crash put his family members in the hospital over the weekend, Johnson posted an Instagram photo showing the crashed vehicles and captioning with a message of gratefulness.
“My mom & cousin @linafanene were struck head on by a drunk driver this week – they lived. First reaction is to find the person who did this and do unrelenting harm to them,” The Rock wrote. “But then you realize the most important thing is my family lived thru this and we can hug each other that much tighter these days.”

Hug your own family tighter today and be grateful you can tell them you love them. #BearHugsAndGratitude #100PercentPreventable #ChoicesMatter
While the crash totaled both cars, Johnson’s family just suffered minor injuries and they were said to be on their way to a full recovery. The drunk driver who hit them apparently had some facial injuries, TMZ reported.
The gossip site also reported that the drunk driver who hit The Rock’s mother and cousin was evading police at the time of the crash. Ata Maivia-Johnson and Lina Fanene were on their way home from a charity event in Clermont, Florida, when they were hit head-on by a car that took off after being stopped by police.
The driver ran the red light and struck Johnson’s mom and Fanene’s car as an officer tried to chase her down, a Lake County Sheriff’s rep told TMZ. There is no word yet on whether the female drunk driver is being charged for the accident.
