Malia Obama caught on camera at Lollapalooza
Malia Obama may or may not have been at Lollapalooza over the weekend — but it's apparently a national secret. Although numerous festival-goers report seeing her, the White House won't confirm she was ever there.
According to witnesses, the first daughter was there for Chance The Rapper's show at the Chicago festival. Twitter user @cleaaaaver posted a photo of her encounter with Malia.
Seventeen-year-old Meghan Loma of Valparaiso, Indiana, told the Chicago Tribune that she was next to Malia and it was obvious who she was.
"All these Secret Service guys were around," she said. "My friend turned to me and said, 'I've seen the movie, and I know what they are.'"
The Obamas are from the Chicago area and still have a home there. Lomas said it was a highlight of the festival for her.
"I was in awe of her, and I was just staring at her for a while," she added. "I freaked out and I waved at her and said, 'Hi,' and she waved and said, 'Hi.' That was really cool. She seemed really nice and polite and stuff.
"Everyone was trying to get in to see her, but those Secret Service guys just formed a wall," she said.
Chance The Rapper is from the South Side of Chicago, the same area where the Obamas are from.
Malia Obama has been keeping herself busy this summer. She also surprised another group by acting as a production assistant on the set of Halle Berry's show, Extant, back in June, and she seems to be figuring out what she wants to do — other than being her father's daughter. The 16-year-old is likely considering her college options, but she also seems to be having fun acting as a normal teen — even if she does it surrounded by the Secret Service.
