Instagram video may be a clue to new Taylor Swift music
It has been almost two years since Taylor Swift released her album Red, and the singer has been talking about new music for at least a year now. But is it finally here?
TSwift posted a new video to her Instagram page, and it has the internet abuzz with new music rumors. The video, uploaded Monday afternoon, Aug. 4, is just about as vague as it could be. It shows Swift pushing an elevator button labeled "18" six times.
The video is captioned, "So, here's your first clue..."
And although the 18 likely does refer to new music, it's not clear at all what it means. Some are guessing the 18 means Swift's first single will be released on Aug. 18. Others are guessing that the music video could be shot in an elevator, or that there are 18 tracks on the album.
The Video Music Awards are coming up on Aug. 24, and it could be perfect timing for Swift to release her new single just a few days before. She will also be performing at the iHeartMusic Radio Festival in September.
If Swift was still younger than 18, she could be taking the Adele path of naming her albums after the age she is when she records or releases the album. But since the singer is now 24, it's doubtful it has anything to do with her age.
The most likely answer is that Swift’s album may be released on Oct. 18. Although the singer's album Fearless came out on Nov. 11, 2008, her other three albums were all released in the month of October (Taylor Swift was released Oct. 24, 2008, Speak Now came out Oct. 25, 2010 and Red was released on Oct. 22, 2012).
The singer is obviously getting out a kick of being as vague as possible, so don't be surprised if we see quite a few more clues before the news is finally announced.
