The Wire star Anwan Glover was stabbed inside a Washington, D.C., nightclub on early Sunday morning, his rep has confirmed to E! News.
Glover, who played street gang member Slim Charles in the gritty HBO drama, found his on-screen life take a tragic twist into reality as he was stabbed while in a crowded area of Café Asia, a restaurant on the northwest side of the Capitol.
According to the police report, Glover revealed he was first sucker-punched by an unknown man. He then allegedly turned to face his assailant and was hit in the back of his head, which caused him to fall.
After being repeatedly kicked, the star then apparently heard someone scream, “He has a knife.” Glover then felt a sharp pain in his right side. However, the motivation for the stabbing is still unclear.
“He has no idea who did it, or why,” the actor’s rep told E! News.
Glover was rushed to George Washington University Hospital at the time of the incident and treated for a laceration on the right side of his torso, but luckily, it looks as though his injuries are not life-threatening.
“He is in stable condition,” his rep revealed to E! News. “Doctors expect a full and fast recovery.”
Unfortunately, this is not the first time the actor has been a victim of violence. He was previously shot 13 times as a youth in Columbia Heights while his brother died in a 2007 shooting in the city, the Washington Post reports.
Glover’s son was also wounded in a 2011 shooting at a party, according to the paper.
