Fans across the globe were thrilled by the release of the Fifty Shades of Grey trailer. However, musicians The Roots don’t appear to share their joy, and found the trailer… well, scary.
The first trailer of the hotly anticipated Fifty Shades of Grey film adaptation by Sam Taylor-Johnson of the best-selling books by E L James finally released its trailer last week, and Jimmy Fallon decided that he’d have some fun with it by adding a scary picture in a random place.
The funnyman then decided to trick his late-night band on The Tonight Show and get them to watch the clip of the sadomasochistic billionaire after he’d added his little surprise to it.
“Everybody is still talking about this Fifty Shades of Grey trailer that just came out,” Fallon explained on his recent episode, which aired on Tuesday. “Millions of hits on YouTube. With all the hype, we wanted to see what The Roots thought of it.”
“We asked each of them to watch it so we could tape their reactions,” the comedian continued. “But here’s the catch: You know those scary faces that sometimes can pop up in YouTube videos? We added one of those to the trailer.”
The Roots were certainly in for a surprise, and it was not just Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan’s characters living out their whirlwind romance and sexual fantasy on-screen, but also a terrifying horror picture.
