The unusual consciously uncoupled spouses, Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin, still look very coupled. The duo showed up on Monday night to a screening of Hector and the Search for Happiness in East Hampton, New York.
An attendee told People magazine, “They seemed so comfortable with each other. It was like they were still married.”
The night was hosted by the Iron Man 3 star and her mother, Blythe Danner, in honor of family friend Simon Pegg, who stars in the movie.
Even though they were together inside the party, outside the venue in front of prying media lenses it was a different story. Paltrow posed for photos on the red carpet alone at the UA Theater. The Coldplay singer entered through a separate door and did not stop to have his picture taken.
Once inside, the separated couple spent time chatting together with Danner and several other friends. The night extended into the after-party at Serena & Lily Beach Market in Wainscott, New York.
Pegg, who is the godfather of their oldest child Apple, had only lovely things to say about Paltrow and Martin.
He said to the entertainment magazine, “I’ve known Chris for 15 years and I was there when they met and they are dear friends. And Chris is the godfather to my daughter, Tilly, as well. They are both so down-to-earth.”
As the night ended, the exes left together with Martin escorting his mother-in-law to her car.
Could a reconciliation be in the making?
Another source shared, “I don’t know what’s going on with them, but they seem really happy.”
