The new Outlander trailer, just released from Starz at Comic-Con on Friday, has us so excited we’re shaking in our kilts.
The 1:30 trailer was released during the Outlander panel at Comic-Con this year, which featured executive producer Ronald D. Moore, bestselling author of the book Diana Gabaldon and cast members Caitriona Balfe, Sam Heughan, Tobias Menzies, Graham McTavish and Lotte Verbeek.
Moore is clearly excited and proud of his new story. In fact, he showed up to the Comic-Con panel in a kilt. Gabaldon praised the executive producer. “I said this is the only thing based on my work that I’ve ever seen that didn’t make me turn white or burst into flame,” the author told the audience.
Dress-up at the panel isn’t the only fun this show is having. Starz has also set up a castle and standing stones as a showpiece on the Comic-Con exhibit floor, complete with people dressed up in period attire.
The series follows Claire Randall (Balfe), a married combat nurse in 1945, who is mysteriously swept back in time to 1743. Aside from her life being instantly threatened in this new world, Claire is also pushed into an unlikely love triangle spanning centuries when she is forced to marry Jamie Fraser (Heughan), who Starz describes as a “chivalrous and romantic young Scottish warrior.” We’d say, from the looks of the trailer, Heughan definitely fits that bill.
“I don’t think of it as a man’s show or a woman’s show,” Moore said during the panel, according to Hypable. “It’s just a ripping good yarn.”
