Shania Twain ends Vegas residency, headed to DWTS?
Shania Twain has decided to end her two-year residency at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. The country singer announced the big news on Monday.
She said in a statement, "At the beginning of this amazing journey, through the rediscovery for my love of performing, I knew the stage would feel like home, but it turned out that Las Vegas itself became 'home.'"
The "From This Moment On" singer continued, "Performing for fans who come from all over the world to see the show night-after-night warms my heart. I started the first international Shania Kids Can clubhouse in Las Vegas because I love this city, and my time here has given me more than anyone can ever know. I can't thank Las Vegas enough."
Twain began her residency of Shania: Still the One back in December 2012. When she finishes up her concert series on Dec. 13, she will have performed 100 shows at the venue.
The timing of the announcement is curious, though, because rumors have been circulating in Hollywood that the Grammy winner is headed to Season 19 of Dancing With the Stars. She has a handful of dates left in October and the first half of December, which will add up to 16 more shows.
That schedule would not conflict with ABC's Monday night dance competition show and she can easily rehearse on the road with her partner.
According to HollywoodLife.com, it looks like Twain will be a cast member in the fall.
A source told the gossip site, "Those at DWTS are very confident that Shania Twain will join the show in its next season. She is very, very, very close to signing on the show."
The mom of one was also asked in a recent Facebook chat if she would be interested in doing the show. She responded with a non-committal, "I'd consider it!" However, the rumor mill is churning that she's onboard for the fall season.
DWTS begins airing on Sept. 15 on ABC.
