Jack Antonoff likens Taylor Swift to Michael Jackson

Jack Antonoff is definitely a big fan of Taylor Swift, so much so that he has likened the “I Knew You Were Trouble” hit maker to the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson.

During a recent interview with GQ magazine, the musician revealed that the music that’s currently “doing it” for him is Kanye West’s Yeezus and country singer Swifty, an unusual combination of musicians by all accounts.

“I think Taylor Swift is one of the best songwriters ever,” Antonoff confessed.

“Taylor Swift is cool, because she’s the closest thing today that hearkens to Michael Jackson — to great, great pop music,” he continued. “There’s a difference between her and Gaga and Katy Perry and Lily Allen and all that. It all feels throwaway, comparatively.”

That’s very high praise for the country star although Antonoff might be slightly biased because he co-wrote the track “Sweeter Than Fiction” from the One Chance soundtrack with the star.

However, this is not the first time the Girls creator and Lena Dunham’s beau has gushed about Swifty’s musical abilities. He told the Associated Press in 2013 that the opportunity to work with Swift made him a much better musician.

“She’s just like the most incredible writer and singer and performer,” Antonoff gushed to AP. “She feels completely unaffected by all the stuff happening around her, so working with her was like the most amazing experience… It made me better at what I do just watching her process.”
