Casey Kasem’s body not buried yet, still at funeral home

A month after his death, Casey Kasem’s body is still at a funeral home in Tacoma, Washington, and hasn’t been buried yet.

A rep for Kasem’s daughter, Kerri Kasem, said the radio legend’s kids hope he can be buried in Glendale, California, at the Forest Lawn cemetery as he had supposedly wished. However, his wife, Jean Kasem, holds the rights to his body and has not decided what to do or where to put him for his final resting place.

A spokesman for St. Anthony Hospital in Washington state, which is where Kasem died, said the American Top 40 legend’s wife picked up his remains, but did not reveal what her plans for the body were.

Kasem’s family had an ongoing feud over his care and visitation rights, and it seems to be continuing even after his June 15 death, E! News reported. When the 82-year-old radio personality passed away, his three daughters and son were by his side, but Jean was not present. The children had a memorial service for him, where Jean was also absent, and they hoped he’d be buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Park afterwards.

But the kids’ stepmother is keeping him in Washington with no burial plans so far, a whole month after he passed away.

Casey Kasem’s kids shut down in conservatorship bid >>

Prior to Kasem’s death, Jean had “cut him off” from his family and friends, Kerri claimed. So, when the ailing man was taken out of a nursing home in California by his wife and taken to a private residence in Washington, the concerned daughter filed a missing person’s report.

After Kasem was found, a temporary conservatorship over him was appointed to Kerri and she implemented the end-of-life measures she and her siblings claimed were desired by their father. Meanwhile, Jean insists Kasem said he wanted her to care for him and did not want his kids involved.
