Gwen Stefani welcomes hubby Gavin Rossdale to The Voice

Looks like it’ll be a family affair on the new season of The Voice as Bush front man, Gavin Rossdale, announced on Monday, July 14 that he’ll join his wife, Gwen Stefani, on the NBC singing competition as her team mentor.

In a message posted on Twitter, Rossdale said he was “honored” to be part of The Voice with his lovely and talented wife, Gwen, who serves as a replacement for show judge veteran, Christina Aguilera. During Season 2 of The Voice, Blake Shelton welcomed his wife, Miranda Lambert, to the show as a mentor to help the singing hopefuls. She would later go on to help out Team Shakira during Season 7 of the competition.

Shortly after Rossdale’s announcement, Stefani chimed in on her own Twitter account, welcoming her husband of 11 years to the show.

Stefani confirmed her role as judge on The Voice in late April. Even though the news tip had circulated to different blogs before the announcement, the No Doubt front woman made official word on her Instagram account. She’s not the only new judge heading to The Voice this season, either. Her collaborator and “Happy” singer, Pharrell, will also take a seat in the red swivel chair as a replacement for CeeLo Green.

During an interview with Us Weekly, Green said that he decided to leave the show because it became more a chore than a passion. “It easily and quickly became a job,” he admitted. “Very, very obligating… taxing and tiring… I still tip my hat to Adam [Levine] and Blake [Shelton] and those guys who continuously do it, but I think I ran my course there just naturally.”
