Rosie O'Donnell officially returning to The View, ABC confirms
The View has taken to Twitter to confirm the rumors that Rosie O'Donnell will be returning to the show this fall for Season 18.
After much speculation over the past few days, ABC has made the official announcement that O'Donnell will be back to her old co-hosting gig, which she previously left in 2007.
Meanwhile, O'Donnell is taking, "some time to enjoy 'The View.'" She posted a cute video on Instagram that seems to include more than a couple puns about her recent news.
She captioned the video on Twitter with the words, "#TBT - enjoy ur vacation - hope it's hassle free !!! #PEACEOUT"
This seems to be a jab at Elisabeth Hasselbeck, who is not too happy about O'Donnell's return to The View and hasn't been shy about sharing her opinions. She took a break from her vacation on Wednesday to call into her show Fox & Friends to comment on the, then, rumors that O'Donnell was headed back to the show they both used to co-host.
"What could ruin a vacation more than to hear news like this?" Hasselbeck said. "I know Rosie very well. We worked quite closely. Talk about not securing the border!"
O'Donnell infamously left The View the first time around after an argument with Hasselbeck, which got heated. The 52-year-old's return would now signal a certain sense of vindication.
Whoopi Goldberg, who is a member of the show returning this fall, commented on the show this morning about her feelings on the potential replacements. "I'm tired of people saying, 'If this one comes in... If this one comes in....' I don't argue with people. We have spirited discussions."
Now that O'Donnell is returning, we have no doubt there will be plenty of spirited discussions to be had for Season 18.
