Ben Affleck & Jen Garner celebrate low-key anniversary

Just because they are one of the most high-profile couples in the world, doesn’t mean everything has to be fancy.

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner proved they are a truly down-to-earth couple this weekend when they mingled among locals at a low-key spot while celebrating their ninth wedding anniversary, according to E! News.

Garner flew to Detroit where her hubby is filming the upcoming film, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and the two headed out to dine at a French fusion restaurant called Bistro 82, located in the Royal Oak suburb.

“Jen was wearing a black dress and Ben was in jeans with disheveled hair… they were walking slowly by and seemed relaxed and in good spirits,” an onlooker told E! “They were walking very closely together. As they were walking out, Ben took a cigarette out and put it in his mouth and they walked out of the restaurant and he stopped and lit the cigarette. They then walked out together and headed down the street.” The source also added that the two were so low-profile, they almost went unrecognized. “I had to do a double take because they were blended with the rest of the guests and they appeared like any normal couple,” the witness said.

Justin Near, a representative for the restaurant, also told ABC News that the two movie stars were very friendly and polite with the Bistro 82 staff. “Ben had steak fries and made a point to tell the waiter they were the best fries he’s ever had… they also had a nice bottle of wine,” Near said.

And while the couple may have kept things mellow while celebrating their marriage, Affleck was still looking like a superhero, according to Near. “The guy is definitely ripped, that’s for sure,” he said. “They just looked really engrossed in conversation with each other. The staff said they were a pleasure and really look forward to serving them again.”

Although the successful couple spent their anniversary in a down-to-earth manner, they aren’t really just like the rest of the population. Not all of us have famous exes like Jennifer Lopez or get banned for life from casinos for counting cards at the high rollers table. Still, it’s nice to see celebs be kind and relate to the rest of the world.
