VIDEO: Soap stars talk Daytime Emmy nominations at Sunday’s red carpet

The Daytime Emmys aired on Sunday night and SheKnows was there and ready to catch up with the stars on the red carpet.

During the red carpet event before the Daytime Emmys began, SheKnows caught up with several stars to talk about the awards, their outfits and their take on who should win.

The Daytime Emmys red carpet was packed with fan-favorite soap and talk show stars, and SheKnows was on hand to get as much scoop as possible. To start off, we caught up with The Bold and the Beautiful‘s Katherine Kelly Lang, who was happy to be nominated, but was happy for anyone in her category to take home the trophy.

“Whoever wins, especially in my category, I love them all… we’re all good friends,” she said, adding that getting ready for the show was more stressful than actually being nominated. “I’m a jeans and T-shirt and no makeup girl — this is what stresses me out.”

Steve Burton from The Young and the Restless said that moving into the show this year was a big change. “Just to be nominated was a huge surprise and blessing,” he added. Burton admitted that he didn’t prepare a speech because he “has no idea what this whole format is going to be like,” but he’s got a few people he wants to thank if he wins. The handsome star also revealed his wife is expecting a baby girl, who is due in two weeks.

Wearing Forever Unique, Burton’s co-star, Hunter King, said she took a long time to get her makeup done, but she admitted she did pig out a little as well. “Started off with a bagel and cream cheese, so I got started off with a good breakfast full of carbs.”

King also touched on the 26 nominations The Young and The Restless received and said how proud she was of everyone, but she wouldn’t feel right if they won all of them. “I feel like I’d be really not OK if we said ‘yes, we’re gonna win all 26 of them’… [but] we’re really excited.”

Meanwhile, Elizabeth Hendrickson said she loved her Shareen yellow dress, although she never wears that color. She admitted to spending all day preparing for the event because she was nominated and was hoping to win. She also hoped to get a new job now that her role on The Young and the Restless is over.

“Hopefully, this summer, I’m gonna find my next great job,” Hendrickson said. “I really want to do comedy; that’s my goal.”

Days of Our Lives‘ Eric Martsolf said he was “a mess” because his pants and jacket did not match due to them being from different designers.

“You can get all of this at the mall, because that’s how we roll” he said, referring to his and his wife’s outfits. But, Martsolf added he was super excited to be nominated and that he appreciates all the support.

“They say it’s just great to be nominated,” he added. “It truly is, because that’s your peers saying ‘we appreciate what you did.'”
