Malia Obama is only 15 years old, but may already be exploring her career options. The first daughter was reportedly seen working as a production assistant on Halle Berry’s new show.
Malia Obama has a new job, and it’s an important one. The first daughter was spotted last week working as a production assistant on Halle Berry’s new show Extant, according to The Wrap.
Malia will be turning 16 on July 4, and it looks like she is already considering her career options — and it may not be in politics.
“She helped with computer shop alignments and the director also let her slate a take,” a source told The Wrap.
Extant is a sci-fi thriller, bringing Halle Berry back to television. The show follows an astronaut who returns back home after a year in space alone to find herself pregnant. She attempts to deal with the news while reconnecting with her husband and son, and figuring out how all of it will alter the course of humans.
The source said Malia was excited for the role, and said, “My first time. This is a big deal.”
Neither CBS nor First Lady Michelle Obama has responded to requests for comment. Malia Obama attends the Sidwell Friends School in Washington, D.C., an exclusive private school, but is now out for the summer. She was spotted with her parents on Friday, June 13, in Rancho Mirage, California. President Obama was in the area because he delivered the commencement address at UC Irvine on Saturday, June 14.
It’s not clear if Malia’s role was only for a few days while she was in town, or if she would be staying in California longer than that.
Halle Berry’s new show is only part of her new role with CBS. She and her producing partner have also signed a production deal with the network.
