Robert Pattinson: "I have to prove certain things"
It's been years since the end of the Twilight franchise, but Robert Pattinson still can't escape his past.
It's been nearly two years since Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart ended their relationship because of her infidelities with married director Rupert Sanders, and although the couple have moved on with their lives, it appears the world has not.
During a recent interview in the June edition of The Hollywood Reporter, the Maps to the Stars actor was once again asked about his ex-girlfriend.
When asked by the site if he still speaks to his 24-year-old ex, Pattinson responded with, "Oh, yeah."
Of course, the fact that the former lovebirds are now on speaking terms will excite Twilight fans because there's still hope for a reconciliation — of their romance, not the movie.
Pattinson enjoyed a swift rise to stardom, thanks to the Twilight franchise, but he's since been eagerly trying to shed his vampire image.
"Everything changed when they did the marketing, and the general public started to view [the films] in a different way when they started to push the 'team' aspect of it. It was like, 'I'm on Team Edward or Team Jacob.' That saturated everything, and suddenly there was a backlash. Whereas with the first [film], there wasn't a backlash at all," he told The Hollywood Reporter.
So what was it really like playing the role of moody yet charming vampire Edward Cullen?
It wasn't as easy and exciting as you may have thought. "It was quite a constricting character, in a way," Pattinson said. "You want to make [him] as dramatic as possible, but you have someone who never loses his temper, and so it's like, 'How the f*** do you do this?'"
"I think that was one of the hardest jobs I've ever done," the British hunk added. Since then, he has moved on to other challenging roles in The Rover and Cosmopolis. So could he finally have found his niche?
"I don't know if I've really particularly found my feet as an actor yet. I have to prove certain things."
You don't have to prove anything to us, RPatz!
