Michelle Williams recruits Kelly Rowland & Beyoncé for new song
Michelle Williams re-teams with Beyoncé Knowles and Kelly Rowland for a new religious tune off her upcoming solo album.
Beyoncé Knowles, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams have reunited in various forms since Destiny's Child's separation way back when. In early 2013, all three girls offered DC fans some new material when they released a compilation album, which featured a previously-unreleased track called "Nuclear." Just a few months later, Kelly had her singing sisters on a track called "You've Changed" for her last solo album and we can't forget the girl group's reunion for Beyoncé's epic Superbowl performance.
On Wednesday, May 21, a new song called "Say Yes" from Michelle Williams, Beyoncé Knowles and Kelly Rowland surfaced on the blogosphere and it appears to be a new track off Williams' upcoming solo album, Journey to Freedom, which is expected to drop later this year. On the 4-minute track, the girls head to church over a pulsating dance floor thump courtesy of Harmony Samuels as they rejoice in the word of God. "When Jesus say yes/nobody can say no," they take turns chanting during the song's hook. Fun fact: The religious tune is actually a remix of a Nigerian gospel song.
Shortly after the song leaked, Williams took to Twitter to tell her followers that this particular version of the song is unmixed and unmastered.
Miss Info reports that the superstar trio also reunited to shoot a video for the tune. This marks the first time the ladies have filmed a music video together since their 2005 charity single, "Stand Up For Love," which was featured on their greatest hits album, #1.
