Who knew Clippers owner Donald Sterling would be mentioned during a music performance-heavy award show? Well, Justin Timberlake pulled it off, mentioning Sterling during his acceptance speech at the Billboard Music Awards.
Timberlake walked away with seven awards during the show, including Top Artist and Top Billboard 200 Artist. He sang his way through his first acceptance speech via statellite from his tour in Europe, saying beforehand: “We don’t even wanna say ‘thank you.’ We wanna sing ‘thank you.'”
But when it came time to accept the award for Top Artist, he thanked everyone but Sterling.
“It is not a competition, but if it was, I won,” Timberlake said. “I want to thank everyone on earth, except Donald Sterling.”
Wow! Thank you @OfficialBBMAs for Top Artist!!!!! #BBMAs -TeamJT
