Kristen Stewart is changing it up a little bit! The actress recently made the leap from actress to music video director. So cool.

Kristen Stewart, our favorite goth-a-heart actress, recently took a small break from being in front of the camera and stepped behind it. What for? Oh, you know, just to make her directorial debut by putting together a music video for her friend’s new single.

The denim/lifestyle brand Buffalo David Bitton funded the music video as part of its “Blank Check Series.” The series pairs Buffalo’s checkbook with some of today’s “cultural innovators” for a chance to create something fresh within the arts and entertainment industry. No one is saying how much Stewart was paid to take on this particular project, but it sounds like the check was just an added incentive for something she’d already wanted to tackle.

“I’ve been saying I want to direct movies since I was 10 years old,” Stewart told Rolling Stone during a recent interview. Of course, she recognized that her acting fame would drastically change the amount of attention her work would warrant. She told the magazine she was leery to step out and give it a go. “Basically, I’m grateful to Sage, because she was like, ‘I have this little thing, no one could tell the story better than you… just do it and stop being such a pussy.'”

“Sage” is the lead singer and namesake of new Nashville band Sage + the Saints and a friend of Stewart’s. According to Stewart, the video tells the story for Sage’s decision to back up and leave Los Angeles, California, for Nashville, Tennessee, which was decidedly more her vibe. Nashville’s (mostly) talented and accepted scene of aspiring musicians welcomed her into their jam sessions. Soon enough, she found her Saints and the band was formed.

They’re currently running a PledgeMusic drive in hopes of pooling enough money to make a full-length record. From the snippet of rock/country music we heard in the teaser for Stewart’s music video, we’re anxious to hear that final full-length masterpiece.

Check out the teaser video below and stay tuned for the full music video coming on May 28!
