After being spotted together on romantic vacations, lunch dates and a weekend at Coachella, the rumor mill went into overdrive that Hilary Duff and Mike Comrie were back together just months after announcing their separation. Turns out, that isn’t too far from the truth.
In an interview with E! News, Duff said she and Comrie spend loads of time together and are still in love.
“We are constantly seen together and everyone’s like, ‘What are they doing? Are they back together, are they not?'” she said. “We are really good friends and we have so much respect for each other, and, obviously, Luca is our number-one priority.
“I think we got to a point where we were like, ‘We really need to honor happiness and whatever that is,’ and however we need to sort that out or work that out, we’re doing that,” she added. “We love each other so much and we love spending time together. So when you see us out it’s not just for Luca, it’s because we make plans and we hang out. And we don’t know what our future looks like right now, but we’re both doing really good and just figuring out what makes us happy.”
Her words are bound to devastate poor Aaron Carter, who has been publicly pining away for his teenage sweetheart since Duff and Comrie announced their split.
“I don’t know who she is today, she doesn’t know who I am today, but I would sweep her off her feet if I ever got a chance to again and fix what I did wrong,” Carter recently told Entertainment Tonight, just a month after tweeting his undying love for the mom of one.
Better step up your game, Carter.
