Sophia Bush appeared on the Today show on Thursday morning with one powerful message: Embrace your body. During her appearance for the morning show, the Chicago P.D. actress spoke about her favorite charity, I Am That Girl, and proudly confessed that she definitely doesn’t wake up looking flawless.

“I’ve spent so much time talking to women about, ‘Hey, I may be on TV, and I may be photographed for magazines, but I don’t think I’m perfect. I don’t wake up in the morning and look in the mirror and go, ‘Hey, I’m amazing!’ That’s not how it is,” the 31-year-old starlet confessed to Matt Lauer during the interview. “I’m a woman, and it’s a struggle for all of us.”

Bush told Lauer that it took her up until now to finally embrace her body and own it for herself. Not only did she declare she has a curvy shape, Bush candidly said, “I’m not some rail-thin, 6-foot-tall runway model who was just born that way. I was born like this.”

Bush has advocated for women in the past, but her statement on the Today show clearly resonated well with viewers and took her name to Google’s trending page.

She may have taken on a proud and confident stance in her own personal image, but she’s also taken on a strong role in her professional life. Bush currently plays a stern detective named Erin Lindsay in NBC’s Chicago P.D., which will crossover with fellow TV drama Chicago Fire in the conclusion of a traumatic two-part episode tonight.

As for her character, Bush says the show is getting into a phase where viewers will be able to get a better grasp of Lindsay. “We’re getting into Lindsay’s past, and you see some interesting things this week, and the next two weeks’ episodes will reveal a lot.”
